In order to enhance government agencies' understanding of freedom of speech, the Ministry of Justice held the “International Exchange Conference on Freedom of Speech & the 26th Semi-Annual Meeting of MOJ Working Group on Human Rights” on May 14, 2024. Nadine Strossen, John Marshall Harlan II Professor of Law, Emerita at New York Law School and Former President of American Civil Liberties Union, was invited to share her views on the topic of “Hate Speech, Anti-Discrimination, and Freedom of Speech - US Perspectives” At the conference, Prof. Strossen explained the balance between U.S. anti-discrimination laws and freedom of speech, and the definitions of hate speech and hate crimes, and exchanged views after the sharing.
