Ministry of Justice held a forum of the feasibility for establishing a national human rights institution in accordance with the Paris Principles on July 8, 2015.
In order to widely collect opinions of the feasibility for establishing a national human rights institution in accordance with the Paris Principles, Ministry of Justice as conference service section of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Human Rights held a forum of the feasibility for establishing a national human rights institution in accordance with the Paris Principles in the Briefing Room (2nd Floor) at 14:30 on July 8, 2015.
Administrative Vice Minister of the Ministry of Justice Xie Rong-Sheng presided the forum and participants include Li Nian-Zu and other five members of Presidential Advisory Committee on Human Rights, Professor Zhang Wen-Yu of National Taipei University department of law, Convener Huang Song-Li of Covenants and Conventions Watch, Secretary-General Chiu Yi-Ling of Taiwan Association for Human Rights, Secretary-General Tang Bo-Wei of Amnesty International Taiwan, other representatives of civil society, the Control Yuan, National Development Council, Directorate-General of Personnel Administration of Executive Yuan, gender Equality department of Executive Yuan, Ministry of Civil Service and other government agencies.
The participants are happy to see the establishment of the national human rights institution in accordance with the Paris Principles. Most of the participants also proposed the Control Yuan to put forward the program for the feasibility of establishment of a national human rights institution in accordance with the Paris Principles in the Control Yuan and to take into account the three modes of research program submitted by the National Human Rights Institutions Research Planning Group of Presidential Advisory Committee on Human Rights. Soon after the program delivered by the Control Yuan, Ministry of Justice will aggregate opinions of the participants and submit to the Presidential Advisory Committee on Human Rights as reference of policy advice for the President.
